Cubby (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information Cubby handles, how it’s used, and the choices you have. By using Cubby, you agree to the practices described here.
When you scan a document, the photo is sent through our server (hosted on Vercel) to Anthropic’s Claude to read the document and extract structured information (dates, names, amounts, etc.). Neither Vercel nor Anthropic stores your photo — it’s processed and discarded. The extracted results are returned to your device only, and are never used to train AI models.
We use a small number of service providers to run Cubby, each limited to a specific purpose:
None of these providers receive your kids’ profiles, contacts, or saved documents — that information stays on your device.
Your kids’ profiles, contacts, and saved documents are stored on your device only — never on our servers. That data stays for as long as you have Cubby installed, or until you delete it yourself (see Your Rights & Choices below). Uninstalling the app removes it from your device permanently.
Cubby can collect anonymous usage analytics (e.g. whether a scan succeeded, which screens are used) to help us improve the app — never your name, your kids’ info, or document content. This is on by default and can be turned off anytime from Settings → Anonymous usage stats.
If the app crashes or hits an error, technical details (what happened, device type, app version) are sent to Sentry, a crash-reporting service, so we can find and fix bugs. This never includes your name, your kids’ info, contacts, or saved documents.
Paid subscriptions (Family, Family+) are billed and managed entirely through the Apple App Store. We never receive or store your payment card details. Cubby is licensed under Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Terms of Use for the app). To check your renewal date, switch plans, or cancel, open Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions on your device, or visit apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
Delete all your kids’ profiles, contacts, and documents anytime from Settings → Delete my account — this happens instantly on your device; there’s nothing stored on our servers to separately request. Technical logs (crash reports via Sentry, anonymous usage analytics via PostHog, unless you opted out) are the only things that live outside your device — to request those be deleted, email hello@mycubby.co. If you’re a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information; as noted above, we don’t sell your data, and the request process is the same one described here.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited information that passes through our servers in transit. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Cubby is designed for parents and guardians, not children. Accounts are not created by or for children, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13. Information about a child (name, grade, school) is entered voluntarily by the parent and stored locally on the parent’s device, consistent with COPPA’s parental-consent framework.
If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
